So I first found Olly Murs when I saw an episode of Graham Norton (the one with David Tennant, Matt Smith, Emma Thompson, and Robbie Williams). Robbie and Olly did a swing duet of The Jungle Book’s “I Wan’na Be LIke You”, which was funny, stunning, catchy, all that good stuff. On a whim last night I looked up his solo work and found this song.
This song has been stuck in my head all day and I’m not upset about that in the least! Again, swing-pop, completely catchy and sweet. If it didn’t have that swing/jazz/retro/what-have-you feel to it, I’d be tempted to say it borders Top 40 bubblegum pop, but the retro element sets it apart and saves it in my opinion. It gives Olly Murs something unique.
Give it a go. You might not like it, but for those who do like this sort of music, I think you’ll find the potential for a new favorite.

This is what happens when you deprive fandoms, especially the Sherlockians, of new material. Everyone goes stark raving mad, obsesses, finds every little nuanced tidbit possible, then curls up in a corner crying because they just want to know what happens next (and maybe because their brains have imploded from all the crazy little details everyone is finding/obsessing over).
Seriously though, this is really interesting and I can’t say I ever noticed the vast majority of this.

I’m incredibly homesick tonight. This may not look like much of a view to anyone but me (and my former roommates), but I’d give everything I have to be back living in that fourth floor walk-up for the rest of my life.
